Detlef Beer. Mit jedem Strich
The works of Detlef Beer (born 1963) use the structural means of drawing to refer to three-dimensional perception. Starting at the centre of a sheet, Beer lets simple lines take on geometric shapes and wave-like structures. He uses familiar everyday writing materials like pens, fibre-tip pens and pigment liners of various sizes. This carefully designed volume documents Beer’s drawings of the past twenty years. They show recourses as well as new approaches, sometimes in a lofty, loose motion, sometimes in a resting, compressed state, the aspects of which interpenetrate each other while at the same time emphasizing different ideas that come to life in drawing.
