Kfz-Servicemechaniker/-in auf dem Prüfstand
The training occupation of motor vehicles service mechanic was poloted from 2004 onwards in order to facilitate access to vocational education and training for one particular target group which found itself increasingly excluded: school leavers who had achieved a weak (lower secondary school) leaving certificate. Duration of training was set at two years for these young people and led to a qualification which was intended to allow employment in motor vehicle workshops. The present volume highlights the developments, opportunities and risks which have arisen for trainees and trainers on the one hand and the employment system on the other. For this purpose, all those involved in motor vehicles service mechanic training were included in a nationwide study. Experts from the motor vehicle sector, teaching staff at vocational schools, workshop foremen, trainers, examination boards, guilds, chambers and, last but not least the trainees themselves, were all interviewed.
